Dear California Art Therapist Community,
I hope this message finds you well. Master's student and principal investigator, Daniel Hernried, and research supervisor, Victoria Dobbins, Phd, LMFT, ATR-BC, apart of the Department of Art Therapy and Psychology at Dominican University of California, are writing to request your assistance in promoting and recruiting participants ages 18 to 59 years old for a research project.
This mixed methods research evaluates the effectiveness of single-session, solution-focused art therapy techniques at the Nexus Station in Davis, CA. Participants create art based on established directives and interact with a researcher for one hour. The study requires completion of three surveys (two online, one in-person) taking 5-10 minutes each at different intervals. All participation is voluntary, confidential, and participants may withdraw at any time.
Compensation includes participants keeping the artwork they create during the session and receiving a $10 Amazon gift card for attending in-person, with an additional $10 upon completion, totaling $20 compensation per participant. Even better, no prior experience with art creation is required!
Any help is appreciated, including taking the time to read and consider the following request, so thank you. Please spread the word and ask any question. Here is the link in case you wish to distribute the survey electronically (https://duoc.sjc1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_bfTbBks4SW0MQwC). I have also included a message in which you may post on social media or community forums such as Facebook or Nextdoor.
