    Hello, California Art Therapy Community,

I am writing to help take action due to the current wild fire devastation. Over a decade ago through local chapter support the Emerald Sketch provided California art therapists a virtual training focusing on how to mobilize professional clinical art therapy trauma response immediately after or during active wild fire devastation. The outpouring of attendees prompts me to offer the service again now.

The Emerald Sketch can mobilize a training as early as this Sunday, January 12, anytime PT or the following weekend.

Please respond if you are interested in the immediate needs support.  I welcome contacts from chapter delegates to help streamline the process.

    Dear Nicole, and All,

Good to know some of you have met, and are organizing, the more involved the better.  It's absolutely so devastating the ongoing fires, the outpouring of private updates from friends, and loved ones traumatized is heartbreaking.

The Emerald Sketch is here for you as a resource - and will send a doodle poll soon to generate opportunity this coming week to provide a process group: first give all of you an opportunity to navigate your own sense of grounding and decision as a community.  I imagine many of you are individually displaced, or making critical decisions, and devastated, in addition to those able to respond for their neighbors in need.

When you are ready (or would benefit) to talk directly please send best times for you, and phone number!

Hi Robin:  I'm in NorCal and will reach out to colleagues up here but in the meantime, I'm interested in being involved in a group that is organizing.  I'd be open to coming down for a few days here and there for whatever is being arranged to help.  I am a certified trauma informed clinician and would like to contribute.

    Warmly,

    Hi Nicole and All

From the FATA Florida Art Therapy Chapter board we want to send our hearts and prayers out to you and all those impacted by the fires in LA. We recently went through Hurricane Helene and Milton and are still recovering from the devastation of these disasters. With many of our disasters we have used Stars of Hope to navigate the loss and response of hope, this organization has been truly helpful. I attended a disaster response conference this weekend and the SOH team was there they mentioned they are making plans to send out Stars to LA. to volunteers. I can certainly keep you posted when they arrive. I can also reach out to the SOH team to check on trauma-based training through their Crisis Emotional Care team. SOH is now part of Vibrant and they provide a variety of disaster services  (See the link below).  I know that it will take time to heal and it will take a while to organize a response since the fires are still affecting many communities. Please feel free to reach out for resources. I would be happy to send you a copy of my book which has ideas for working through the longer-term disaster response, Art Therapy in Response to Natural Disasters Mass Violence and Crisis.  Please feel free to call anytime to discuss other ideas for trauma response efforts..

    With care and healing,
